Patents

Patents are a useful form of information, but the usual indexes, abstracts, etc do not appear to exist in Norfolk, although copies used to be deposited at the Yarmouth Public Library until it was bombed during WW2 and sadly reparation for this grievous loss was not sought. Presumably, prior to the genetic modification of crops the inhabitants of Norfolk did not invent anything. Most of the information on patents has had to be gleaned from secondary sources or from rare visits to the British Library, but now greater use is being made of the Internet and where pdf files exist this may be regarded as comparable with seeing the original documents, or in official indexes to them.

In general only British patents are being incorporated "at present". Therefore, the user of this website must assume that all patents are British unless otherwise identified.
