The railway Moon: some aspects of the life of Richard Moon 1814-1899, Chairman of the London & North Western Railway 1861-91. Taunton: PMB Publishing, 2010. 516pp.

A very important book as it sheds light on the dominant figure in the life of the LNWR, its Board and its senior officers notably McConnell (who exited) and Webb who survived. This is not a modern biography in the sense that there is no intimate detail, beyond noting that Moon did not attend a Board meeting which immediately followed the death of a twelve year old daughter. Nevertheless, does his best to breath life into his subject which has always eluded previous commentators.
